Hi Miguel,

These problems you describe have been discussed previously
on this forum - both by me and another gentleman - who's
XJR's have both suffered from the same problem periodically.

The conclusion was that the car is overfueling itself hence
the black smoke (is it one or both tailpipes ?) and missing
- we both felt it was the oxygen sensor at fault causing a
periodic problem. I would be interested to know how many
miles/km's the car has done ?. Does the black exhaust affect
one or both pipes ?

Other possible culprit - catalytic convertor - have a look
at the cats to see if one or both has overheated and/or is
partially plugged (you can tell as its outer colour will be
different - mine looked like it had been painted with red
oxide primer !!}. This can be caused by the overfueling.

The one thing we all agreed on - not a Nikasil problem !.

Ou seja, desde já pode estar descansado que não vai ter de trocar o motor, o que acontece com os nikasil, ou seja, boas notícias.

Agora, as questões que me forma feitas. Em ambos os escapes fica bastante sujo?

Para já, o problema pode ser de facto do catalizador ou das sondas lambdas.

Venho intrometer-me no tópico apenas para dizer que o carro está muito bonito. Também acho que essas jantes "casam" muito bem com o felino

Em relação aos escapes, o direito é o que fica mais escuro, cehgando até a sair liquido negro, e a escurecer o farolim direito,
vou marcar uma ida á oficina para a semana, por isso vai ficar em descanso até lá...

Penso que é o melhor que posso fazer, visto que não percebo muito de mecanica...
